Synopsis

While arranging the wedding of groom-to-be McConaughey, Lopez does the unthinkable and falls in love with him in this romantic comedy.

Review

Mary Fiore (Lopez) is a woman who is in total control of her emotions, applying the same rigor to her nonexistent love life as she does to her successful career as a wedding planner. When she meets handsome doctor Steve Edison (McConaughey), she loosens the restraints just a bit -- that is until she learns he's engaged and one of her clients. A cute premise, bearing no surprises but engaging nonetheless, emerges from Mary's predicament as both Mary and Steve set out to deny their feelings. That the outcome is never in doubt shouldn't come as a shock, for The Wedding Planner is the type of pleasant, formulaic romantic comedy that doesn't aim too high in its goals. That the chemistry between Lopez and McConaughey is palpable, and there are a fair share of laughs help make this innocuous eye candy easier to digest.
