Synopsis

Jung-Won is a young interior designer whose recurrent hallucinations of murdered children threaten his work, his engagement and his sanity. Yun is a woman so burdened by psychic visions that she teeters on the brink of madness. Together they must face the enigmatic terror of The Uninvited.

Review

A masterpiece of old school psychological horror, The Uninvited is such a welcome treat for fans of the genre and of the New Wave of entries coming out of Asia. Reminiscent of The Shining, this film follows the path of Jeong-won a successful designer who has lost his memories of childhood. When he encounters the bodies of two murdered children he becomes haunted by the images and, with the help of a narcoleptic psychic — herself a witness to the death of a baby — gradually becomes increasingly conscious of and horrified by his own, long buried traumatic history. Visually stunning, moody and ominously atmospheric, The Uninvited should be welcomed by all fans of rich, character-driven ghost stories.
