One of the most whimsical directors working today, Michel Gondry cut his teeth in the world of music video (compiled in the excellent "Directors Label" DVD) and has made few compromises during his transition to the big screen. His first two features were scripted by Charlie Kaufman, a kindred spirit in his boundless imagination. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind in particular is possibly the ultimate statement of what it means to be in love. Gondry later moved even further into surreal dreamscapes with The Science of Sleep, and returned to the world of music with the vibrant concert film Dave Chappelle's Block Party.
