Review

Coming from gay show runner Ryan Murphy ("Nip/Tuck" and Running with Scissors), this startlingly fresh and sweet series has swept the critics, women and gay men off their feet. The stories move quickly, the characters are developing interestingly and the there's Jane Lynch. With only a few lines on episode she steals the show -- it's just what she does! The series is set in a suburban high school where the cheerleaders and football team are cool, the glee club not really very cool at all.

Let's give you the characters; you'll need to watch the series for all the stories. Will Schuester is a Spanish teacher and Glee adviser. His wife Terri wants a baby so badly that she's faking her pregnancy. Fellow faculty member and obsessive compulsive teacher Emma has a crush on Will, but she's dating the football coach. Jane Lynch is the adviser to the award-winning cheerleading squad, the "Cheerios". Let's start with Rachel as our first student. She's got a beautiful voice, and she loves to post videos on Youtube, thinking that it's a step in her career. She's got it bad for Finn, who's seeing the head of the "Chastity Club," Quinn, who he thinks he impregnates via a hot tub premature ejaculation (and yes, this is on Fox...). Kurt is the star gay boy in the club; he asks the football players to hold his new Marc Jacobs jacket before they throw him in the dumpster - and they comply. He's also got it bad for Finn. Rounding out Glee are Artie, he's in a wheelchair, stuttering Tina and Mercedes, who can belt "And I'm Telling You I'm Not Leaving" with the best divas anywhere. "Glee" is infectious fun, and completely addictive.
