This 1976 Andy Warhol-produced cult classic starring the legendary Carroll Baker is trashy fun at it's very best.

Review

This black comedy is a Warhol film in name only but don't let that prevent you from seeing this surprisingly slick, sick and subversive tale.

A slumming-for-dollars Carroll Baker stars as the tough, nefarious head of a female kill-for-hire organization based in Queens, N.Y. which specializes in especially difficult cases (i.e. a neighbor's pesky dog or a mother's screaming baby). All is going well for her and her immoral ingénues until a stranger (Perry King) enters the scene.

Bad is gross, highly offensive and disgustingly enjoyable, though the infamous "baby splatter scene" has been partially edited out.

From its opening line at the soda fountain ("Tab! Why doers it always have to be Tab!?"), this hilariously deadpan masterpiece reaches despicable heights of gory black comedy, bitchy 70's attitude, and absurdly horrific nastiness. Carroll Baker made a glorious screen comeback as Mrs. Aiken, a pragmatically ruthless Queens electrolysist who supplements her income by running a murder-for-hire racket out of her kitchen. A roster of wacko hit girls (including Glenda & Marsha, a "sister act" that's like a depraved Laverne & Shirley) carries out assignments involving dismemberment, infanticide and pet-slaying while Baker's dumpy loser daughter-in-law (the fabulous Susan Tyrrell)mopes around the house with her butt-ugly baby. Worlds away from the revered but excruciating Paul Morrissey Warhol flicks (FLESH, HEAT), this relatively polished New World release, directed by the late Jed Johnson, has more of a John Waters feel, but with a hard-bitten sophistication and rich diversity of chartacter lacking in Waters' midnight classics. With dialogue like "You're wearing my panties!/So what, they're dirty!", Perry King skulking around half-naked, and the best dead baby scene in cinema history, how can you go wrong? Featuring publicist Susan Blond, slutty Italian diva Stefania Casini and Chelsea Girl Brigid Polk ("I want you to kill a dog, and I want you to kill it viciously.... Nothing painless or ouchless...") A brilliantly unique and twisted gem waiting to be discovered.....
